I have a wonderful story of kindness to share today. Jon's parents frequently do garage sales as a fundraising project for various causes. This weekend they were planning another garage sale and graciously planned for all their proceeds to go towards our adoption expenses. If you know Jon's dad, well, you will also know that he runs a great "side business" selling odds and ends on Craigslist. Bob has a barn full of interesting items he has collected over the years from roadsides and other garage sales. He often takes other people's trash and literally turns it into treasure by fixing it up a bit and reselling it. So it is just a normal day when someone comes along and wanders through the barn or garage to buy an item from one of his postings. However, it turned out to be a rather extraordinary stranger who came shopping yesterday. As usual, Bob took him out to the barn and he wandered around a bit and said, "Well you have some mighty interesting stuff here, but I really just don't need anything." Bob said that was fine and told the man about how he has garage sales once or twice a year as a fundraising project. The man asked what this fundraiser was for and Bob explained to the man that his son and daughter in law were adopting. The man reached into his pocket, pulled out some cash and said "Here - put this toward the fund. My brother adopted and now the boy is 18 and very much a part of our family". Surprised and overwhelmed by such a gesture, Bob said, "Oh, are you sure?" The man answered back, "Absolutely!" The man left and Bob went back into the house. That kind stranger handed Jon's dad $97. We are all amazed by such a gift. God is good! He will provide! Even if it is through the hands of strangers, God showed his favor to us today.
